Put the cartridge on some paper towels in an area where you can tolerate a spill.
Peal off the top label.
Colour & Photo Cartridge. Please check before filling that your colours correspond with the instructions.Assemble the needle and syringe, place the needle into the ink inlet hole and push until slight resistance is felt.Remove the needle from the cartridge, this will allow you to see a small amount of colour on the needle. If the colours are different from those on the instructions supplied, then fill the chambers as per the appropriate colour sequence in your cartridge.
Very S-L-O-W-L-Y inject ink into each chamber until the sponge full.
Black, syringe only into one chamber(see picture).
Colour & Photo Cartridge.A little ink might come out of the top when full, so cover up the other two holes while filling one.
When finished, replace the top label or leave it off (it will make no difference in the printing).
Replace the cartridge and run 1 - 3 cleaning cycles as per printer instructions.
Note: Some of the newer Lexmark cartridges have very small holes and the needle will not fit into it. In that case just use the thumb drill provided and drill the holes larger.
If necessary leave the cartridge in the printer for up to 8 hours.
The ink level guage will not read full after refilling.
If one or more of the colours are not flowing properly, this could be due to air in the cartridge.
Put the needle & syringe back in the inlet holes and pull the plunger up about 1/2ml,this should release the trapped air.
Repeat for all three colours.
If the cartridge is blocked, stand in 1/4 inch of hot water until the ink begins to flow.
Dry with a soft cloth and return to the printer & run 1-3 cleaning cycles as per your printer.
If necessary leave cartridge in printer for up to 24 hours. |
